Enterprise Martial Artist Students performed well

Seven students from Conley’s Keichu-Do Academy competed at the 41st Annual Southern Region Open Karate Tournament at the Dothan Civic Center on 6 November 2021. This tournament was the fourth tournament for the Keichu warriors this year due to COVID-19.  The winnings started off in the junior black belt division with Jace Himes placing 1st in both weapons and fighting and 2nd in forms. Because of his 1st place win in weapons he had the opportunity to compete for the junior black belt grand championship for 2021 in which he won. For the first time competing in the adult men brown belt division, Xavier Cruz placed 1st in forms and 3rd in fighting. In the 11 & 12 year old brown belt division, Lennon Chandler placed 2nd in forms. In the orange and green belt division ages 11 & 12 year old, Hector Cruz placed 1st in forms. A first time competitor in the 13 & 14 year old girls division, Cailyn Wardrobe placed 2nd in forms. Also in the beginner’s division ages 11 and 12 year old, Morgan Brooke Bishop placed 1st in forms and 2nd in fighting.  In the 6 year old and under division, six year old Sebastian Steger placed 1st in forms and 4th in fighting. The Keichu-Do warriors are not just karate students; they are all martial artist, because they also train in judo and Ju-jitsu which is part of Keichu-Do Karate.  They closed out the 2021 tournament season big. The next competition scheduled for the warriors will take place February 2022 in Columbus GA, at the IKC Challenge Karate Tournament.

Only five students from Conley’s Keichu-Do Academy competed at the 33rd Annual Sunshine Classic Open Karate Tournament on 11 September 2021 in Panama City Beach Florida.  This tournament was the third tournament for the Keichu warriors this year due to COVID-19.  All students won a first place trophy.  The winnings started off in the junior black belt division with Jace Himes placing 1st in weapons 2nd in forms and fighting.  Because of his 1st place win in weapons he had the opportunity to compete for the junior black belt grand championship in which he won. In the adult green belt division ages 18-34; Xavier Cruz placed 1st in forms and fighting.  In the orange and green belt division ages 11 & 12 year old, Hector Cruz placed 1st in forms and 3rd in fighting. Also in the beginner’s division ages 11 and 12 year old, Morgan Brooke Bishop placed 1st in both forms and fighting.  In the 6 year old and under division, six year old Sebastian Steger placed 1st in forms and 3rd in fighting. They all had a great day.  The Keichu-Do warriors will compete one more time to close out the tournament season at the Dothan Civic Center on November 6 during the peanut festival.


Ten students from Conley’s Keichu-Do Academy competed at the 21st Annual South Alabama Karate Open on 12 June 2021 in Andalusia, Alabama.  This tournament was the second tournament for the Keichu warriors this year due to COVID-19.  The winnings started off in the adult men brown belt division where Tylor Wardrobe placed 1st in weapons and kata.  In the brown belt division ages 13-17; Layton Smith placed 1st in weapons, 2nd in kata and 1st in fighting.  In that same division Lila Coleman placed 2nd in weapons, 4th in kata and 3rd in fighting.  In the intermediate color belt division ages 14-17 Xavier Cruz placed 1st in kata and, while Landon Smith placed 3rd in kata.  In the same division ages 11-12, Lennon Chandler placed 1st in Kata.  In the beginner’s division ages 11 & 12 year old, Hector Cruz placed 1st in kata.   Also in the same division ages 9 & 10 year old, Morgan Brooke Bishop placed 1st in kata, she has only been taking Keichu-Do for one and a half months.  In the 6 year old and under division, five year old Sebastian Steger placed 1st in kata and he has only been taking Keichu-Do for four months.  In the special division, Garden Coleman placed 1st.   They all had a great day.




Students from Conley’s Keichu-Do Academy showed their skills starting off the 2021 karate tournament season. Four students competed at the Gulf Coast Martial Arts Championship on 20 February 2021 held at Crestview, Fl. The Keichu worrier winnings started off in the 8 and 9 year old beginners division with 8 year old Julee Cobb taking 1st place in forms and in the 9 and 10 year old beginners division, Hector Cruz taking 1st place in forms and 4th in fighting. In the advanced brown belt division, Lila Coleman won 1st place in forms in the 14 to 17 year old advanced division. Also in the junior black belt division age 14 to 17 year old Jace Himes won 1st place in weapons, forms and fighting. They all had a great day.
